Writer's Block: Better to Receive

Sometimes it's the thought that counts, and other times it's the thing itself. What's the best gift you've ever received, thoughtful or otherwise?

It's a tie, and they're actually both from this year:
$30 to put towards going to see Legally Blonde at Dallas Summer Musicals next July with Christy, Liz, Alisha, Anna, and Ashley. We're all so excited - we can't stop listening to the soundtrack. x]
An absolutely gorgeous cross necklace that Jeremy got me, despite the fact I insisted that he not get me anything at all.

Newsflash: Katy is, in fact, still alive and well!
For those of you that were somehow still unaware, I've been grounded from my laptop for ages.
But my mom let me use it today, and I think I may have it back for good. :)

My Christmas was pretty nice. My family went with a bunch of people from church to feed the homeless in Dallas that morning, and then I spent the rest of the day at Christy's house, and I took bunchessssss of pictures..
Lots of which are available for viewing on my devART, of course. ^^ It was ooooodles of fun.

I finally got to see Jeremy yesterday. :) I spent the afternoon hanging out at his house.
He took me down to the creek by his house... But there was another couple sitting at the best crossing point making out,
and we're like, "Well.... This is awkward." So we just went back to his house after that. x]
Thennnn we played Rock Band! :D I've missed playing drums sooo much. (Matt managed to break our foot pedal. Ugh.)
We eventually got sick of playing Rock Band ("Green Grass and High Tides" will do that to you..)
so Jeremy started playing Madden '08. He played as the 49ers and beat the complete crap out of the Raiders. :)
... Then his mom decided we needed to go out to eat. She almost took us to PF Chang's,
but I was like, "No, that's too expensive! Pei Wei's just as good.. And not expensive..."
So we went to Pei Wei. And it was super yummy... And I kicked Jeremy's butt at Yatzee on his new iTouch. :)
After dinner, we went back to his house and started watching Prince Caspian...
I couldn't stop complaining about Caspian/Susan. >__>
... Okay, we didn't actually watch Prince Caspian. I was watching it, and Jeremy was looking at me while I watched it.
........ And I didn't actually watch the whole thing. I only watched about half of it.
................ Because other stuff happened during the second half. :) lol
Buuuut anyway. It was so much fun. I love hanging out with my baby. :)

I'll update this thing again in a few days... With quotes from the quote notebook of New Year's goings on. :)

*Centered/weird spacing to make it even on the actual post part*

For my fellow, alive band geeks. :D hah.
Notice the spiffy, glittery letters and how
it's done in Plano East colors. *nod* x]

Also for use by East kids. (Or Bee, if she feels so inclined)

That's Leah Barnett playing, for anyone who cares to know.

... And wtf is with accomplished? o__0

God was watching over us.

Last night, my mom and I were in a car wreck.

We were coming back from getting Monte Cristo at Barnes and Noble.
We were mostly across the intersection at Jupiter and Plano Parkway.
Then this idiot ran the red at some ridiculously high speed.
Neither me or mom saw him until about 3 seconds before we hit him.
Mom had enough time to get her foot off the gas and go "Oh jeez-"
The front of the station wagon hit the end of the other car.
We ended up facing the Sonic, which means we spun pretty hard to the left.
Thankfully, we were both wearing seatbelts and the airbags deployed.

I was screaming bloody murder. Mom was surprisingly calm.
Mom couldn't get her door open. The frame's totally shot.
I kept screaming about my face hurting, and I had a terrible bloody nose.
What a 'coincidence': A fireman happened to be driving by just then.
He came over to look at my nose. He said it was probably broken.
Some lady brought me a fluffy pink towel to hold to my face. :]

An ambulance, firetruck, and police arrived a few minutes later.
They put me in a neck brace and put me into the ambulance on a stretcher.
Let me tell you something about being a patient in an ambulance:
The guy who rides back there with you talks to you, asks you questions.
After the required stuff, stuff like my name, age, and address,
he asked me about my grade and my school and what have you.
I'm pretty sure it was meant to calm me down some
because my heart rate was probably off the charts just then.
Yeah, those questions? They don't do squat for calming you down.

We went to Medical Center of Plano. Mom was somehow still calm.
The x-ray machine in that place is freaking huge, I'm sayin'.
Dad and Matt showed up about 10 minutes after I got back from x-rays.
Pastor Randy and Alisha showed up about 15 or 20 minutes later.
Everybody prayed for me and mom and then we talked for a while.
Alisha brought me her iPod to listen to so I wouldn't be bored. :] haha
A while after they left, the x-ray results came back.
I didn't have a broken nose, but I've got contusions across my right cheek.
I've also got a few smaller cuts across the end of my nose.
Both my cheeks have 1st degree burns for the airbag hitting them,
and I think the contusions are from the airbags slamming my glasses into my face.
Mom is completely fine except for a stiff wrist and some soreness.

In all honesty, I should have a broken nose at the very least.
In fact, I should probably have some spinal or neck injuries, but I don't.
Mom got off with just a stiff wrist. She doesn't have any cuts or bruises.
If we'd been going just a tiny bit faster, or the other car'd been going any slower,
it would've been so much worse than it is. I might even be dead right now.

If the fact that mom and I got off so much easier than we really should have
isn't proof that God exists and was keeping us safe last night,
then I honestly don't know what in the world WOULD be proof of Him.

The first thing I said after I stopped screaming was "Thank you, God."
And I am so thankful that He was there with us last night.

The first coherent thought I had was of something Joel said Sunday morning.
He was saying how we can all point to times in our life and say,
"I should've died right there. I should've been killed by that."

This is one of those times for me. I don't know why I'm alive today.
But I'm so thankful I am, and I could never say enough how much I am.
